Origin
of the Scheme
With
rapid urbanization coupled with economic growth, every
city experiences corresponding increase in the travel
demand and the wear-tear of the roads increases. However,
as the roads are lifelines of any city and the level
of development in any area is directly proportional
to the road connectivity to that area, there emerges
the need for urgent attention to the issue of Maintenance
of roads especially of urban local bodies. Hence,
in order to address this issue, the Hon'ble Chief
Minister in his budget speech for the year 2006-07
has announced for providing an assistance of Rs.5.00
crores for Maintenance of ULB Roads. Accordingly,
the allocation of funds had been made keeping in view
the road length being maintained by each ULB. An amount
of Rs 05.00 Crores have been provided in the Budget
for the financial year 2007-08 for Maintenance of
ULB Roads.
Main Objectives
of the Scheme
- Maintenance of the existing
ULB roads Components Maintenance of existing ULB
roads i.e tarring, patchwork, minor repair of pavement,
side drains and culverts etc.
Funding Pattern
- 100 % State Government Budgetary
provision.
