Origin of
the Scheme
In order to
strengthen the urban infrastructure and clean environment
in urban areas of the State, the Hon'ble Chief Minister
in his budget speech for the year 2006-07 has announced
for providing an assistance of Rs.30 crores under
Rajiv Gandhi Urban Renewal Facility (RGURF) for
infrastructure and sanitation improvement in all
urban areas of the State other than Shimla for the
year 2006-07..
Main
Objectives of the Scheme
Infrastructure and sanitation improvement in all
urban areas of the State.
Components
-
Management
of Urban Solid Waste.

Parking
lots within the towns for cars etc. and on the
fringe of the town for trucks. The truck parking
facilities shall also integrate the workshops,
dabhas and other cateries, common civic amenities,
etc. The land for such parking lots shall have
to be provided by the local bodies and the State
Government shall not make any provision for cost
of land.

Setting
up of new public amenities by way of community
toilets within the existing towns, especially
in the proximity of bus stands, hospitals, main
shopping areas etc. the new community toilets
shall be on a lease / contract basis with M/s
Sulabh International who already has their presence
in the State.

Development
of parks within the existing towns.
The Urban Local Bodies shall
get detailed project report prepared for each proposal.
The cost of DPRs could also be an integral part of
the overall project cost and its funding.
Funding Pattern
The funds will be provided
to Municipal Council / Nagar Panchayat on "first come
first served basis" as 95% Government Grant of total
cost of DPR and remaining 5% is to be born by municipality
out of its own resources under Rajiv Gandhi Urban
Renewal Facility (RGURF) for infrastructure and sanitation
improvement in urban areas .
